Birth Name: Richard Patrick Russ

O'Brian is most well known for his series of historical, sea-faring Napoleonic books featuring the characters of Captain Jack Aubrey and Doctor Maturin. There are twenty books in total in this series, plus one unfinished book that O'Brian was working on at the time of his death. The tenth of these books was turned into the 2004 film 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World', directed by Peter Weir and starring Russell Crowe.

Read these so long ago. remember them being very well written and historically rich.
Shame about the film of Master and Commander, really didnt capture the essence of the books sadly.
