Well, on the weekend just gone I travelled up to Brisbane. The weather was gold and a good time was had by all. High on my list of priorities upon arriving in Brisbane was to visit this 2nd hand bookstore in the West End...

Anyway, I managed to score the following three books from there for highly reasonable prices.
For $9, good nick! This is also on the A&R Top 100 list and is the first of Jasper Fforde's celebrated Tuesday Next novels - a mixture of fantasy and classical literature, these books fall into the same(ish) category as Robert Rankin and other speculative authors who present twisted versions of our own world which don't really reconcile with typical fantasy or sci-fi. Looking forward to reading this one.
Another cheap one, $9. This popular booker-prize winning novel has long been on my 'to get' list, ever since I read Doyle's amazingly entertaining Barrytown trilogy. Like the aforementioned trilogy, I imagine it won't take me long to read this. Doyle is one of the most readable authors I've ever come across.
I copped this one for only $6. Often cited as Kelleher's best novel, this futuristic/apocalyptic teen fiction novel is about a boy who can communicate with animals. Kelleher lives near my aunty up at Bellingin (west of Coffs Harbour) - this was pretty much my main motivation for picking up this one, hahaha. It's fairly critically acclaimed so I doubt I'll be disappointed.
