Book Club - by Luke

Schapelle Corby cops it hard

February 14th 2007 00:40
A bit off-topic, but this relates to a story an article I ran on here a while ago when Schapelle Corby's book was first due to be released. This article can be read here.

Some pretty damn irrefutable evidence is starting to emerge in regards to Schapelle's guilt regarding the drugs-in-bodyboard-bag arrest. Today Tonight did a story - and some unaffiliated news programs have picked up this story since, which might be a first for Today Tonight - on one of Schapelle's old 'friends'. This woman, Jodi Power, says that Schapelle and Schapelle's sister, Mercedes, asked her if she would do a drug run to Bali and that they said they had done them before. What makes this particularly damning is that Power passed two out of three polygraph tests. Story here.

"Lies! Lies" call Schapelle's supporters.

This follows on from another story I read about a week ago on the ninemsn.com website, which involved a co-prisoner of Schapelle's who made claims about Corby being quite the lying sociopath.

"Lies! More lies!" call Schapelle's supporters.

The most damning evidence of all though would have to be the testimony of Vasu Rasiah, Schapelle's main legal defender. In Corby's book she attests that she asked for DNA tests to be done and that her pleas were ignored. Rasiah, in the wake of these fresh Today Tonight allegations (and maybe a little miffed that Corby has implied his defence was inadequate), has come out with this bombshell - DNA tests were arranged, and the Bali authorities probably would've let her off if she passed them, but she REFUSED! She refused DNA testing and a lie detector test!

"Er... lies... more lies" (I imagine the calls of her supporters to be quite muted by this point).

For a good laugh, check out the various comments at the bottom of my blog on Schapelle's book, here's the link again - Schapelle Corby Writes a Book. They're mostly by her fanclub, I wonder if they're feeling a bit silly now...

I doubt they feel at all silly, they probably think it's more propoganda to convict Corby... *sigh* people will never learn.
