Schapelle Corby writes a book?

October 23rd 2006 09:45
It appears that a biography of some sort is due for release on November the 10th. I've seen signs in two Angus and Robertson stores now, both proclaiming that they will have this book in stock in the near future.

I know very little about it but here's what I do know...

1. It appears to be some kind of Angus and Robertson exclusive.
2. It hasn't been reported on anywhere else in the media as far as I'm aware (it's not even mentioned on her official website - Free Schapelle)
3. It may even be an autobiography (! - I suppose she has plenty of time to write such a thing)

That's all I know.

Some musings...

- On the above listed website there is information pertaining to a newly-released single by Jason Stan called 'My Name is Schapelle' - "The only song officially endorsed by Schapelle Corby & family". I don't even know where to begin in remarking on the existence of such a thing, so I'll just leave that as it is.

- As for for a biography or autobiography... what is going to be in it? Will it cover Schapelle's formative years? Her work as a shop assistant and her time as a beauty student? Will it be a travel piece about the sights to see and things to do in Indonesia as a tourist? Or will it be a 'Marching Orders'-esque tale of drug smuggling in third world countries?

Is Schapelle guilty or not? Well, the book will hardly help her case either way... if she is guilty she's hardly going to admit it whilst her family campaigns to get her out of an indonesian gaol cell. And if she's innocent, well, the book isn't really going to be all that interesting is it?

I predict this book will be a smash hit. Woman's Day may even have a sample chapter in their magazine that week.

That single looks terrible...

What other 'exclusives' has Angus and Robertson had?

As you said, the book will only really be interesting if she is guilty... I think she is... but thats just me

Hi Luke

Just to address some points with you and help answer a few questions that you and other readers may have.

1) No Schapelle's book is not an A and R exclusive and is widely available at all good booksellers.

2) Yes, you are right, not alot of publicity has gone out about it, perhaps the pr ppl at pan mac are thinking it will sell for itself.

3) Yes it is an auto bio, written with the help of former 60 minutes (australia) producer kathryn bonella.

You asked some very good questions about Schapelle and her family, I suggest the best thing is to go grab a copy and read it, it really corrects all the lies that have been portrayed about her, her family and the case.

Yes it does cover Schapelle's formative years, but obviously with the current circumstances the focus is more on time in Hotel K.

No it will not be a travel piece on what to do/ not do in INDO, this woman is fighting for her life and is writing to set the record straight on so many lies that have been printed in the media.

By no means will it be "marching orders," when you consider she is innocent, why on earth would she admit guilt for a crime she did not commit?

You posed the question, "is schapelle guilty or not, will it help her case either way." I suggest and encourage you to grab a copy, it will really set the record straight for you. The book will show you that she is in fact innocent

I encourage everyone to buy a copy and have a read and support this woman in her bid for freedom.

Please see the link below for more info on Schapelle's case, it's a great quality forum. Can I encourage everyone to check it out.

I wrote this blog prior to the book's release, when A R were touting it as an exclusive... obviously the book's exclusive status changed somewhere along the line.

And why would I want to read it if she's innocent? It would be boring.

Hi Luke,
Not all stories about innocent people detained in prison are boring mate. There's plenty of wickedness in the book to thrill you. LOL.

Maybe.

Then again, I'm not so sure she's innocent!

Hello everyone - I would like to direct any readers of this comment to www.spiritofschapelle.com/forum for discussion on Schapelle's book.....and yes, it is Schapelle who wrote it.

As for freeschapelle.net. I also encourage everyone to check it out once more.....notices on the book have been up for a while now.

It's never a bad thing to do some searching before making too many conclusions.

Thanks everyone -

Hey Carina... I second what you said...

Hi everybody... research before you judge people...please... and remember the people that you judge have families and friends who deeply care for them and feel the hurt also...

Schapelle is 100% innocent and is living in hell - her daily life is a rat infested, cess pitt with a bucket of water to bathe in, a room the size of your bathroom shared with 5 or more other women, locked away at 4.30pm everyday (and the guards go home with the key!!!)... I could go on but I'll leave it up to you to read her book.

Don't forget to check out the abovementioned websites dedicated to Schapelle and also another excellent forum:

Did anyone else read this and get movement? Not quite a semi but the blood definitely pumped a little faster. Do you have any pictures by any chance?

I think the sentancwe was apalling... but she's probably guilty.

My friend thought she was innocent until she read the book, actually.

how can somebody publicly comment on a book they've never read?
you seem a little 'wet behind the ears', luke.

Don't refer to me by my first name unless you're prepared to post under your own name, 'anonymous'.

If you look at the date on this post you'll see that it was made before the book even came out, so how could I have read it? It's a news article - not a review, at no point did I even imply that I have read it.

Take your blind ignorance somewhere else please.
